He topped that tonight against Virginia. On his fifth rushing touchdown of the night, Allgeier reached 237 yards on just 25 carries.

Five rushing touchdowns in a game has been accomplished three times before tonight. Jamaal Williams had five rushing touchdowns in his record-setting game against Kareem Hunt and Toledo in 2016.
Williams also rushed for a BYU record 286 rushing yards that game. In his Doak Walker Award winning season, Luke Staley also accomplished the feat. He ran for five touchdowns against Colorado State. In 1979, Eric Lane had five rushing touchdowns against Utah State.
It was a statement game for BYU against the Cavaliers. Virginia entered the game with the 113th ranked rushing defense. The Cougars took advantage and exploded for over 300 total yards on the ground. Allgeier is having an all-time great season for BYU.
Allgeier finished the game with 29 carries for 266 yards. BYU kept him in on the final drive for a chance to try and set the record for single-game rushing touchdowns. But then with a little under two minutes remaining, Kalani Sitake allowed Allgeier to have his curtain call and call it a night.
