Wilgar Interception Sets Up BYU TD Run By Allgeier

PROVO, Utah – BYU linebacker Payton Wilgar interception the Virginia Cavaliers to set up a touchdown run by Cougar running back Tyler Allgeier.
The No. 25 Cougars hosted the Cavaliers on Saturday, October 30.
With 12:34 left in the opening quarter, Wilgar picked off Cavaliers quarterback Brennan Armstrong before returning the ball 24 yards to the Virginia 11-yard line.
Four plays later, BYU quarterback Jaren Hall handed the ball off to Allgeier, who ran the ball across the goal line for a one-yard touchdown.
Allgeier’s score put the Cougars up 14-0.

It was Allgeier’s 12th rushing score of the season.
He entered the contest with 866 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground.
The interception was Wilgar’s second of the 2021 campaign and his fifth career pick.
