Two Late Goals Are Too Late For RSL Against San Jose
SANDY, Utah – Despite scoring a pair of late goals, RSL was unable to overcome a three-goal deficit against the San Jose Earthquakes.
Real Salt Lake midfielder Maikel Chang scored a goal late in the second half to pull one back against the Earthquakes.
In the 85th minute, Maikel Chang had an opening inside the 18-yard box and ran in and tapped the ball into the back of the net.
That cut San Jose’s lead to 4-2 in the final moments of the match. It’s the second goal of the season for Chang and the third of his career with RSL.
RSL continued to close the gap with a goal by Albert Rusnak during the 92nd minute of action.
Unfortunately for RSL, three goals were one score short of matching San Jose’s total.
RSL started the game with a goal in the ninth minute on a give-and-go with Damir Kreilach finding Albert Rusnak.
Then San Jose scored four straight goals with Fierro in the 37th minute, Chris Wondolowski in extra time in the first half, Cowell in the 69th minute and Yueill in the 79th minute.
Real Salt Lake will play their final regular season game at home on Wednesday, November 3 against the Portland Timbers at 8 p.m. MT on the KSL TV app, KSL Sports app and KSLSports.com.
