SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The No. 18 Herriman Mustangs advanced to the second round of the postseason after a big first half carried them to a win over the No. 15 Davis Darts.

The Darts hosted the Mustangs on Friday, October 22.

Herriman beat Davis, 35-21.

After a scoreless opening 10 minutes of action, the Mustangs got on the board first when Jack White hit Max Robinson for a touchdown.

The opening score gave Herriman a 7-0 with 1:21 left in the first quarter.

The Mustangs took control of the contest at the beginning of the second quarter when White connected with Michael Falatea. Herriman went up 14-0 with 10:26 remaining in the first half on the pass from White to Falatea.

Herriman added to its total and appeared to be well on its way to a win when White found Kaden Hansen behind the defense for a 59-yard touchdown with 4:25 left in the second quarter.

Despite trailing 21-0, Davis got on the scoreboard before the halftime break when Jackson Stevens threw a touchdown pass to Hunter Anderson with 2:58 remaining in the first half.

However, Herriman wasn’t done scoring either.

White connected with Lalo Tafisi for 28 yards and six points with 10 seconds left in the half and the Mustangs ran into the locker room with a 28-7 lead at the break.

The Mustangs began the second half with a long drive that culminated in a Manaia Brown touchdown run with 4:14 to go until the fourth quarter. Herriman took a 35-7 lead with Brown’s score.

Late in the contest, the Darts added a pair of touchdowns, including one in the final seconds of the game to cut Herriman’s final to 35-21.

Herriman will face No. 2 Lone Peak in the second round on Friday, October 29 at 6 p.m. MT.
