Utah LB Devin Lloyd Named Midseason All-American By Four Publications

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah Utes junior star linebacker Devin Lloyd was named a midseason All-American by four different publications after a tremendous six-game stretch to start the 2021 season.
Devin Lloyd was named a midseason All-American by The Athletic, Associated Press, CBS Sports and ESPN. On The Athletic list, Lloyd is one of two Pac-12 players to make the list, joining USC WR Drake London.
Here is what The Athletic said about Lloyd:
“Only (Will) Anderson has more TFLs than Lloyd, who made four stops in the backfield in the Utes’ win against Arizona State last week. He has 13 TFLs overall and eight in three wins against Pac-12 opponents. He also ranks second in the Pac-12 in tackles (61) and has two interceptions.”

On CBS Sports, Lloyd is one of three Pac-12 players, joining London and Oregon safety Verone McKinley III. Lloyd and London are the only players from the conference to be named to the AP midseason All-American list. Finally, Lloyd, London and Arizona State LB Darien Butler are the conference representatives on the ESPN list.
Here is what ESPN said about Lloyd:
“Lloyd has been a one-man wrecking crew for the Utes this season. He leads the league with 10.6 tackles per game and nine tackles for loss in five games. He had 6½ tackles for loss in the last three games alone. In the Utes’ 42-26 win at USC last week, its first over the Trojans in Los Angeles since 1916, Lloyd had eight tackles, one tackle for loss and one pass breakup. The two-time All-Pac-12 selection also leads the league with 10 run stuffs and 13 tackles at or behind the line of scrimmage.”
Lloyd has 61 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, four sacks, two interceptions, three pass breakups and a fumble recovery this season.
