SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Real Monarchs have filed a police report following a fight that broke out between the Real Monarchs and Austin Bold players with a minute left in the game on Saturday afternoon.
“The Real Monarchs have filed a report with the Herriman City Police Department on behalf of Real Salt Lake Academy player Fernando Delgado, based on the events that took place involving Jorge Tanscoso of the Austin Bold FC in the final minutes of the match on Saturday afternoon,” the club confirmed.
The fight took place following an 85th-minute equalizer from Bold midfielder Amobi Okugo. Delgado then went to grab the ball from the back of the net to stop the players from Austin from quickly retrieving the ball and placing it down in the center of the pitch.
When Delgado grabbed the ball, Aldo Quintanilla was the first Bold player to try and poke the ball free from Delgado’s grasp. A second later, Trancoso entered the frame and looked to have swung at the face of Delgado.
Things got very chippy at the @RealMonarchs vs. Austin Bold match- there appears to be a swing on 15-year old GK Fernando Delgado before a double-red.
Rumors of charges and police involvement, yet to be confirmed.

Immediately following the punch, other players on the pitch immediately ran to aid their teammates. Delgado pushes back, and the altercation between Trancoso and Delgado only worsens.
Both players were sent off as a result of their actions.
Real Monarchs, despite being down to nine men, scored the game’s final goal in the 89th minute when Brett Halsey played a simple pass around the goalkeeper to Milan Iloski to tapped the ball home with his left foot.
