SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah basketball program was picked to finish 10th in the Pac-12 preseason media poll ahead of Media Day on Wednesday.

It’s just the third time that Utah basketball was picked to finish in the bottom third of the Pac-12. That was in the first two seasons in the Pac-12 in 2011-12 and 2012-13.

All but two seasons Utah has exceeded their preseason poll prediction. The first season they didn’t was when they were picked to finish second and did so in the 2014-15 season. The second time was in 2020-21 when they were predicted to finish eighth and ended the season in that spot in the standings.

Here is the Pac-12 Preseason Media Poll along with the voting results:

  1. UCLA (32) – 404 points
  2. Oregon (2) – 373 points
  3. USC – 320 points
  4. Arizona – 245 points
  5. Oregon State – 245 points (tied for 4th)
  6. Colorado – 235 points
  7. Arizona State – 224 points
  8. Washington State – 221 points
  9. Stanford – 151 points
  10. Utah – 105 points
  11. Washington – 85 points
  12. California – 44 points

The Runnin’ Utes will face Westminster College in an exhibition game on Thursday, November 4 at 6 p.m. MT at the Jon M. Huntsman Center. They will begin their 2021-22 campaign and the Craig Smith era on Tuesday, November 9 against Abilene Christian at home. Tip-off is at 6 p.m. MT on the Pac-12 Networks.
