LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Utah Utes surprised the USC Trojans with a trick play for a touchdown before the halftime break in Southern California.
The Trojans hosted the Utes at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Saturday, October 9.
With 10 seconds left in the second quarter, the Utes decided to go for it on 4th & 1 from the USC 37-yard line.
Instead of running the ball up the middle, Utah running back TJ Pledger pitched the ball back to quarterback Cam Rising following the initial handoff.
Rising unleashed a deep ball into the end zone for Devaughn Vele. It was Vele’s first reception of the contest.
