SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) announced Salem Hills High School as its 2021 NFHS Performing Arts School of Excellence.
The Skyhawks received the honor during a special ceremony at the high school on Wednesday, October 6.
The award winner is chosen for “exemplary commitment to the performing arts” and is presented annually in October to celebrate National High School Activities Month, which “serves to remind students, parents, coaches, administrators and others in communities across the country about the values and benefits of high school activity programs.”
Salem Hill is the sixth school to be awarded the NFHS Performing Arts School of Excellence. The award was created in 2016.
“This award is a way to recognize the great performing arts programs around the country,” NFHS director of performing arts and sports Dr. James Weaver said. “The award can excite programs to grow, and we can continue to highlight the importance of performing arts within high schools. Salem Hills High School has a long history of excelling at the top levels of performing arts in the state of Utah and Section 7, and we are excited to celebrate its success.”
