SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Real Monarchs have added midfielder Leo Torres on loan from San Antonio FC for the remainder of the USL season.

Torres, 17, joined San Antonio FC in February of 2019 as the first professional to sign from the club’s academy. He became the youngest to ever sign a contract in USL Championship history, putting pen to paper at 15 years and 23 days. Since then he has played in eight matches for San Antonio.

“The Club welcomes Leo Torres on loan for the duration of the 2021 USL season. Leo is a talented young prospect that the Club has been tracking this season. It is a welcome opportunity to have him within our group for the remainder of the season,” Real Salt Lake Assistant General Manager Tony Beltran said.

Real Monarchs are in the midst of a two-game road stretch in the state of Texas, beginning with El Paso Locomotive on Wednesday, September 29 at 7:30 p.m., followed by Rio Grande Valley FC on Saturday, October 2 at 6:30 p.m.

The Monarchs only have seven games left in the 2021 season. With a current record of 4 wins, 5 draws, and 16 losses, the Monarchs will not compete in the postseason this year.

The next home match is slated to take place on Friday, October 8 when they host the Colorado Springs Switchbacks at 7 p.m.

The match will be available to stream via the KSL Sports & KSL 5 TV apps or on KSL Sports dot com.
