University Of Utah To Hold Candlelight Vigil In Honor Of Aaron Lowe

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The University of Utah will hold a candlelight vigil this evening in honor of recently slain football player Aaron Lowe.
The vigil will begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be located at the University of Utah Union Lawn, in the heart of campus.

Candles will be available for attendees while supplies last. University of Utah President Taylor Randall, Athletics Director Mark Harlan, Head Football Coach Kyle Whittingham, a select group of Student-Athletes, among others are expected to address the attendees.
Attendees are advised to park to the east of the Union Building at no cost.
Aaron Lowe
Utah football defensive back Aaron Lowe was killed in a shooting in Salt Lake City early Sunday morning at a house party in Sugarhouse.
Lowe was the first recipient of the Ty Jordan Memorial Scholarship and switched his number from 2 to 22 during the offseason to honor the life of his childhood friend.
Lowe signed with Utah in 2019 as a three-star recruit out of West Mesquite High School. He played in 11 games on special teams as a freshman. During the COVID-19 shortened season, Lowe played in all five games on special teams in 2020.
According to a press release that was sent out by SLCPD that they received a call at approximately 10:30 p.m. MDT on Saturday, September 25 to a noise complaint about a house party at 2200-block of South Broadmoor Street. At approximately 12:30 a.m. MDT on Sunday, September 26, SLC911 received a call from a person in the neighborhood reporting a fight involving a weapon. Police were immediately dispatched after the change in circumstances increased the call from a noise complaint to an in-progress emergency.
