PROVO, Utah – Now that BYU and Notre Dame officially agreed to meet next season, the 2022 BYU football schedule has 12 games in place.
The 2022 slate will be BYU’s final year as an FBS Independent before moving to the Big 12 Conference in 2023. BYU’s schedule next year features four teams from Power Five conferences in Baylor, Oregon, Arkansas, and Stanford. The addition of Notre Dame gives BYU a total of five power teams as the Irish contend for the Playoff on an annual basis under head coach Brian Kelly.

The game against Oregon is a one-game scheduling agreement where BYU will be paid $1.1 million to play against the Ducks in Eugene. It will be the first meeting between the two schools since the 2006 Las Vegas Bowl that BYU won 38-8.
BYU opens the season at USF in Tampa. The Cougars just defeated South Florida last week, but they lost their last and only appearance in program history in Tampa in 2019.
Other games include old Mountain West Conference rival Wyoming, rivals Utah State and Boise State, the Liberty Flames, and an FCS game with Dixie State from St. George.
BYU needs to establish one date for one of their 12 game agreements. That would be the game with East Carolina who is scheduled to play in Provo. It was originally scheduled for October 15, but once Arkansas was added to the schedule, the Pirates game needs a new date. BYU has open dates on October 29 and November 12. The last time BYU faced East Carolina was in 2017, one of the toughest losses in Kalani Sitake’s tenure as head coach.
Dates for games on the 2022 schedule are still subject to change.
