Last week in the win over Arizona State, Hall suffered a hard fall that caused him to leave early. Romney stepped in last week to throw a game-clinching touchdown pass after not throwing any passes the entire year to that point. He completed a bootleg pass to Isaac Rex to seal the win over the Sun Devils.
Hall said he just had the “wind knocked out of him” last week. But, it was more than just that. Hall walked into the stadium with his teammates, but he didn’t get dressed in pregame warmup attire. Instead, he was on the sideline chatting it up with Passing Game Coordinator Fesi Sitake.

This will be Romney’s third career start in his career. Two years ago, he stepped in for an injured Jaren Hall against USF. That game saw Baylor Romney come off the bench after Hall suffered a concussion.
“I feel I play a very poised game of football. My mindset [when] playing quarterback is to distribute the ball to the playmakers and let them be the ones that make plays on time,” Romney said during fall camp practices in August.
During his time at BYU, Romney is 2-0 as a starting quarterback, including a victory over nationally-ranked Boise State in 2019.

In his career, which dates back to 2018 with BYU, Romney has passed for 1,011 yards with nine touchdowns to only three interceptions. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound signal-caller has completed 65.3 percent of his passes.
BYU versus USF (South Florida) kicks off at 8:15 p.m. (MT) on ESPN2 and KSL NewsRadio (102.7 FM, 1160 AM).
