SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Tony Finau will compete in this afternoon’s session at Whistling Straits as Team USA looks to add to their lead following a morning session that concluded with the USA leading 3-1.
Finau will play alongside Harris English, one of the five Team USA Ryder Cup rookies. The duo will take on Rory Mcllroy and Shane Lowry.
The format will be four-ball, meaning, one player hits the tee shot, the teammate hits the second shot, and so on and so forth until the golf ball is in the cup. It is more commonly known as an alternate shot format.

Team USA enters the afternoon session leading 3 to 1. For Team USA to regain the Ryder Cup Trophy they must get to 14.5 points by the conclusion of Sunday. Europe, who won the most recent Ryder Cup in Paris, France, only needs 14 points to keep the cup themselves.
Following this afternoon’s sessions, every member of Team USA would have competed throughout the first day. Furthermore, no two pairings were the same, every pairing from captain Steve Stricker has been different.
