PROVO, Utah – It’s all smiles in Provo as the BYU Football team is undefeated with all three wins coming against the Pac-12. The Cougars are looking to go 4-0 as they host South Florida this weekend at LaVell Edwards Stadium.
BYU quarterback Jaren Hall joins KSL Unrivaled every Monday. This week he talked about how relaxed and fun it is playing football this year.
“We are the most energetic team on the field in the last three games we played and that was the case all last year,” Hall said. “I think that has driven us to be successful. It is definitely the energy and confidence we have in each other.”

The schedule going forward is favorable but not easy. According to ESPN’s Football Power Index, the Cougars are favored in seven of the final nine games. The two where BYU is the underdog are Baylor and at USC. There are some interesting games in the mix including Utah State which is also undefeated, playing Boise State and Virginia.
Wins will not come easy and head coach Kalani Sitake feels this team has plenty of room for improvement.
“Looking forward to getting better this week. We’ve gone up against some really good teams. Really proud of our team after this one,” Sitake said.
Grateful To Play Football
It all comes back to winning is fun and this BYU team has had so much fun playing football and specifically going back to last year. The 2020 team had its schedule torn apart but the schedule got figured out and the Cougars were able to put together an 11-game schedule, plus play in a bowl game.
All of that from last year is helping this team in 2021 where the season is basically back to a normal college football season, and Hall and his teammates are grateful to be able to be on the field.
“It always goes back to the gratitude to play the game,” Hall said. “Last year, especially with COVID we were grateful to be kids out there and play the game we love. It was fun and wasn’t just here to play football and grind, we were here to have a good time.”

Having all the fun in the world playing sports definitely can make for a great season, winning helps too. This type of positive attitude has to be contagious for this BYU football team and just being out there being happy can go a long way to getting the best play from everyone on the team.
BYU’s next game is at home against South Florida and it will kick off this Saturday at 8:15 p.m. on ESPN2 and KSL NewsRadio (102.7 FM, 1160 AM).
