Utah QB Charlie Brewer Leaves Football Program After Three Games

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Baylor transfer quarterback Charlie Brewer has left the Utah Utes football program after three games.
Charlie Brewer was benched in the third quarter of Utah’s loss to San Diego State. Cam Rising went in for Brewer at QB and led the Utes to a massive comeback that saw the game go to triple overtime.
KSL Sports received the following statement from head coach Kyle Whittingham on Tuesday morning.
“Charlie has decided to move on and we wish him the best,” the statement read.

The news came after Utah released their depth chart for the Washington State game, which had Cam Rising as the starter and Ja’Quinden Jackson as the backup. Brewer went 14-of-26 passing for 104 yards and one interception before getting benched against San Diego State.
Through three games as a Ute, Brewer threw for 484 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions.
Utah will open Pac-12 play on Saturday, September 25 against Washington State at Rice-Eccles Stadium. Kickoff is at 12:30 p.m. MDT on the Pac-12 Network.
