Weber State Comes Up Short Against No. 2 James Madison
OGDEN, Utah – The Weber State Wildcats couldn’t overcome No. 2 James Madison in a 37-24 loss at home on Saturday in Ogden.
Bronson Barron did not play in the game so Weber State used three different quarterbacks. Kylan Weisser led the way with 164 yards and one touchdown. Randall Johnson threw for 69 yards and one interception, while Creyton Cooper had a one-yard TD pass.
Weber State scored first with an early field goal before James Madison scored 24 unanswered points that leaked into the third quarter. Cooper threw his lone touchdown to Hayden Meacham midway through the third quarter to pull within two touchdowns.

JMU extended their lead by scoring 13 unanswered and held a 37-10 lead with under nine minutes left. Weisser threw a touchdown pass to Rashid Shaheed to trim the deficit to 37-17 with 5:38 to play. Josh Davis added a rushing TD with two minutes left but the comeback fell short.
Weber State fell to 1-2 on the season. They will begin Big Sky play on Saturday, September 25 at home against UC Davis. Kickoff is at 6 p.m. MDT on ESPN+.
