The fixture marks the return of Freddy Juarez who shockingly departed Real Salt Lake on August 27th to join the Sounders as an assistant coach.
The first half was dominated by Real Salt Lake who controlled all meaningful statistical categories. Pablo Mastroeni’s change to the 3-5-2 has proved pivotal in the shape and manner that Real Salt Lake plays.

The Sounders entered the game one point shy of western conference leaders Sporting Kansas City and had only allowed 19 goals to be conceded. Kreilach’s finish marks the 20th goal conceded by the Sounders in 2021, no other team in the conference has conceded fewer goals.
