Albert Rusnák Named To MLS Team Of The Week Following San Jose Performance

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Real Salt Lake captain Albert Rusnák has been named to this week’s Major League Soccer Team of the Week following his two assists, one goal haul in the comeback victory against San Jose midweek.
Rusnák has been in terrific form as of late. He showcased his ability against San Jose where he displayed control and poise on the football.
His presence was felt throughout the game, but specifically in the second half. In the 49th minute, he struck home Real Salt Lake’s second goal of the evening when he cut onto his right foot just inside the area and buried his shot into the bottom left-hand corner of the net.

Then, in the 71st minute, he played a dangerous ball into the area from a free kick in which Justin Meram got on the end of by flicking home Real Salt Lake’s third goal of the evening to level up the score.
Finally, in the 81st minute, Rusnák played a perfectly weighted through ball onto the left foot of Rubio Rubin who pushed the ball past Earthquakes goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski for his brace and the fourth and final goal of the evening.
Rusnák played a key role in assisting Real Salt Lake to pick up just its third road victory of the season in a wild encounter with San Jose midweek. His performance solidified his importance to the team.
Furthermore, Rusnák has been highly praised for his work off the pitch as the captain of the team. Interim manager Pablo Mastroeni has on numerous occasions spoken highly of Rusnák as it relates to the role he plays off the pitch as a key leader of the squad.
Rubin was also named to the Team of the Week as a member of the bench following his brace.

Real Salt Lake returns home to play the Seattle Sounders in what will mark the first return of former manager Freddy Juarez to the Rio Tinto Stadium sideline.
Seattle currently sits in second place in the Western Conference just one point behind conference leaders Sporting Kansas City.
