Real Salt Lake’s Rubio Rubin Gets Brace Late Against San Jose

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Rubio Rubin scored his second goal of the match to give Real Salt Lake a late lead over the San Jose Earthquakes
The Quakes hosted RSL at PayPal Park in the Bay Area on Wednesday, September 15.
During the 81st minute of play, Rubin struck inside the box and scored for the second time in the match.
Rubin’s goal gave RSL a 4-3 lead.

The forward entered the match with five goals, four assists, 43 shots, and 16 shots on goal in 16 appearances in 2021.
The first goal of the match came from San Jose’s Javier López during the 26th minute.

Rubin leveled the score for RSL with a header during added time at the end of the first half.

Early in the second half, Albert Rusnák gave Real Salt Lake its first lead of the match.

The lead was short lived as López scored his second goal a minute later.

In the 65th minute, López completed a hat trick with his third goal of the contest.
