BYU Football Lands First Commit Since Being Invited Into Big 12 Conference
PROVO, Utah – The positive vibes for BYU football continue to roll. Days after being invited in the Big 12 Conference and ending the nine-game losing streak to rival Utah, BYU now scored a victory on the recruiting trail.
BYU picked up a commitment from 2022 offensive line/defensive line prospect Talin Togiai from Rigby, Idaho. Togiai is the first commitment BYU has received since the Cougars were invited into the Big 12 Conference.

“After thinking long and hard I have decided to commit to #BYU thanks to coach @Coach_DFunk and @kalanifsitake for this amazing opportunity,” exclaimed Togiai.
When you get into a Power 5 league, you want to recruit P5 talents and Togiai has an offer sheet that garnered attention from power teams. The 6-foot-6, 290-pound Togiai reported offers from Utah and Nebraska in the Big Ten Conference along with a BYU offer.
The addition of Togiai brings BYU’s 2022 recruiting class to 15 commits with three months to go until the early signing period begins in December. Togiai was at LaVell Edwards Stadium to witness BYU’s 26-17 victory over the Utes.
There are good bloodlines in the Togiai family. Talin’s cousin, Tommy, was a star at Ohio State and currently plays with the Cleveland Browns. Togiai also has a brother, Tanoa, who is an offensive lineman at the University of Utah. Tanoa Togiai landed an offer from BYU football when he was in 8th grade.
