Jonathan Menéndez Named To MLS Team Of The Week

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Newly signed Real Salt Lake winger Jonathan Menéndez has been named to the MLS Team of the Week following his excellent performance in the 3-2 win at home against FC Dallas over the weekend.
Menéndez, 27, dazzled in the 82 minutes that he played. His dribbling ability was on full display as he helped Real Salt Lake secure a much-needed three points against Western Conference foe, FC Dallas.
Furthermore, Menéndez also scored his first goal for his new club in the 54th minute when he found himself in the right place at the right time following a deflected Noah Powder shot was saved by Dallas goalkeeper Phelipe Megiolaro and onto the right-foot of Menéndez who calmly put the ball into the back of the net.

It took Menéndez nine games to secure his first goal for Real Salt Lake, despite his impact being felt throughout all games played. He also has four assists next to his name.
Real Salt Lake captain Albert Rusnák was also listed on the bench of the MLS Team of the Week following his performance against FC Dallas. Rusnák scored the game-winning goal in the 72nd minute when his right-footed shot from just inside the area bounced off the gloves of Megiolaro and trickled past the goal-line for Real Salt Lake’s third goal of the evening.
Menéndez was credited with the assist on Rusnák’s goal when he cut inside from the right-wing and picked out Rusnák on top of the box.
Next Match & Standings
Real Salt Lake will now travel to Banc of California Stadium for a date with LAFC on Sunday, September 12th. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. and will be available to stream for free via the KSL Sports & KSL 5 TV apps or on KSL Sports dot com.
LAFC is coming off a 4-0 win against Sporting Kansas City and currently sits in the ninth position in the Western Conference. Real Salt Lake finds themselves in the seventh position on 30 points, 3 points clear of LAFC.
The upcoming fixture will mark the third time LAFC and Real Salt Lake face one and another this season with LAFC having beaten Real Salt Lake in both previous encounters.
