SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Real Salt Lake legend Jason Kreis has expressed interest in the managerial vacancy following an interview with Spence Checketts on ESPN 700.
“Myself and my family have a lot of love, not just for the club but for the state, and what it represented to us and what it gave to us and so I think there is a big part of me and a big vision in my mind that would love to come back and help that club get back to where it needs to go,” Kreis stated. “Now I don’t know if that is going to be now or a time in the future but at some moment before I finish this great soccer career I would love to come back to Real Salt Lake and be a part.”
Kreis is a living legend for Real Salt Lake. His presence is often remembered for being charismatic and powerful. The club had more success under Kreis than they have done under any manager in its history, and it is not even close.
RSL should really consider bringing back Jason Kreis. Yea I said it…….

During the years that Kreis took over as manager, following a very successful playing career, he guided the club to its only MLS Cup championship, provided multiple years filled with CONCACAF Champions League experiences, and galvanized the soccer community in Utah.
Rio Tinto Stadium was packed to the rafters every week with Kreis on the sidelines. The stadium was constantly buzzing and the soccer landscape in Utah was forever altered under his guidance.
Furthermore, Kreis has been linked to a move back to the club in the past. On September 25, 2019, Real Salt Lake honored Javier Morales by putting his name in the rafters alongside Kreis while also recognizing the MLS Cup championship team prior to the fixture against LA Galaxy.

A few days before the event in 2019, Kreis arrived in Utah and immediately went up to Park City to visit his former players. Assistant General Manager at the time, Elliot Fall, made a visit to Kreis while he was in town to discuss the idea of a return. During that time, Freddy Juarez was the interim manager following the firing of Mike Petke a few months prior.
With another managerial vacancy at Real Salt Lake, could this be the time Real Salt Lake fans reunite with their beloved leader?
