Colts Claim Chris Wilcox After Buccaneers Waived Former BYU DB

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Indianapolis Colts claimed former BYU defensive back Chris Wilcox after he was recently waived by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Indianapolis picked up Wilcox on Wednesday, August 1.
The Buccaneers waived the former BYU cornerback as part of the team’s roster cuts to 53 players on Tuesday, August 31.
Tampa Bay selected Wilcox during the seventh round of April’s 2021 NFL Draft.

During three preseason games with Tampa Bay, Wilcox recorded six total tackles and four solo tackles.

Wilcox, a native of Fontana, California, played at BYU from 2016-20.
As a freshman, Wilcox had nine total tackles and eight solo tackles in 10 games.
During his second season in Provo, Wilcox had 32 total tackles, 23 solo tackles, one tackle for loss, and five pass breakups in 10 games.
In his junior year, Wilcox had 28 total tackles, 24 solo tackles, two tackles for loss, and two pass breakups in nine games.

Wilcox had one tackle in one game during a redshirt season in 2019.
As a senior in 2020, Wilcox had 18 total tackles, 12 solo tackles, and one pass breakup in nine games.

Wilcox helped BYU to an 11-1 record in his final season with the Cougars.
