SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah football program announced on Tuesday afternoon that cornerback Aaron Lowe is the recipient of the Ty Jordan Memorial Scholarship.
Aaron Lowe finished his second season at Utah as Ty Jordan ended his freshman season during the 2020 campaign. They both attended West Mesquite High School and were longtime friends when arriving in Salt Lake City.
The scholarship was set up in Ty Jordan’s name and will be given to a member of the football team after every fall camp heading into the regular season. The team voted for the player that would receive the scholarship.

During the offseason, Lowe changed his number from 2 to 22 in honor of Jordan’s number that he wore during his freshman season at Utah in 2020.
“Since the day I met you I knew you would be a good person,” Lowe said when he switched his number.. And it was because people always looked up to you. We never talked about going to college together. You wanted to stay closer to home because of your mom. But after you de-committed from Texas, we had that talk. I knew Utah could be a great opportunity for you to really be yourself.”
Ty Jordan passed away on Christmas night in Denton, Texas near his hometown to an accidental self-inflicted gun shot wound.

Lowe played all 11 games in 2019 on special teams and all five games in 2020.
