SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The BYU Men’s Basketball team will host Cleveland State on November 9 at the Marriott Center to open their season.

The Vikings announced their full non-conference schedule which included the trip to prove to face BYU to kick off the 2021-22 season.

BYU now has nearly a full non-conference schedule lined up after the Cleveland State announcement.

The Vikings matchup comes one day after coach Mark Pope confirmed BYU would be facing the highly vaunted Oregon Ducks in mid to late November.

The Cougars are also set to participate in the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic in Honolulu from December 22, 23, and 25. The field includes host Hawaii, Liberty, Northern Iowa, South Florida, Wyoming, and two Power 6 teams in Stanford and Vanderbilt.

BYU will face in-state rival Utah on Saturday, November 27 just after the Thanksgiving holiday.

The Cougars are also expected to play Iona, San Diego State, Utah Valley, Utah State, and Weber State, though some of those games have yet to be confirmed.

Cleveland State is coming off a strong 2020-21 campaign in which they finished with a 19-7 record and qualified for the NCAA Tournament. The Vikings were eliminated by Houston in the first round of the tournament.

The Cougars will open WCC play on New Year’s Day in Portland.
