Lotulelei opted out of the 2020 NFL season due to personal reasons. He joined the Bills in 2018 after spending five seasons with the Carolina Panthers. The former Utah All-American was taken in the first round with the 14th overall pick by the Panthers in the 2013 NFL Draft.
