Kyle Whittingham, Utah Quiet On Reported QB Decision

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah football program has named a starting quarterback ahead of the 2021 season, that much we can confirm after Monday’s practice.
According to multiple reports and confirmed by KSL Sports, Charlie Brewer was named the starting quarterback for the season opener against Weber State. When asked on Monday afternoon, Whittingham declined to confirm the reports.
“We will have a depth chart on Thursday and that’s how we are going to handle it,” Whittingham said. “I guess somebody said or made some predictions or know what’s up. I guess they have a 50/50 shot so they might be right. We will have a definitive depth chart on Thursday.”

With Whittingham telling the entire team about the starter on Monday during their team meeting, he was asked why can’t the general public know.
“We just said we’d announced that Thursday,” Whittingham said. “So just stick with the plan. Just not be wishy washy, not worried about who thinks they know what out there, whatever, just stick with our plan and go about our business and not be reactionary.”
