Report: Charlie Brewer Named Utah’s Starting QB For 2021 Season Opener

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Baylor transfer Charlie Brewer has been named the starting quarterback for the University of Utah for their season opener against Weber State.
According to multiple reports and confirmed by KSL Sports, Charlie Brewer beat out Cam Rising for the starting QB job.
Brewer threw for 9,700 yards and 65 touchdowns in four seasons and 44 games played at Baylor.

He ranks No. 1 in school history in completions (828), No. 2 in completion percentage (.635), passing yards (9,700), passing touchdowns (65) and No. 5 in passing efficiency (138.1).
Going into fall camp, Brewer was the favorite to start over Rising with the experience at a power-five program that came with winning big games. Also, Rising was coming off of a shoulder injury that he suffered early in the second quarter in the 2020 season opener against USC. Rising had surgery and came back strong and made it a very competitive battle during fall camp.
Utah will open the 2021 season against Weber State on Thursday, September 2 at 5:30 p.m. MT on the Pac-12 Network.
