SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Thunder moved to 2-0 on the season with an upset win on the road over Alta.

Westlake (6A) 27 @ No. 22 Alta 13

The Hawks scored 13 unanswered to start the game before Westlake took over. Kanyon Lee ran in two touchdowns, while Drake Youngberg and Derek Anderson each added one.

Here are all of the results in the 5A classification from the second week of the high school football season.

Non-Region

No. 23 Springville 36 @ Skyline 8 (Thurs.)

The Red Devils scored 29 points in the second quarter and that was all they needed to get the road win over Skyline. Seth Rigtrup scored the first three touchdowns on the ground. Cole Clement returned an interception for a touchdown and Tisi Valeti had a TD run. Skyline scored their only touchdown in the fourth quarter as Andrew Rasmussen connected with Garrett Adams for a 23-yard TD.

Canyon View (3A) 0 @ Payson 23

The Payson Lions shutout the Canyon View Falcons, 23-0, on Friday evening. Lions quarterback Luke Ivers tossed a pair of touchdown passes in Payson’s victory. With the result, Canyon View fell to 1-1 on the season and Payson improved to a record of 2-0.

Mountain View 0 @ No. 6 Orem 68

The No. 6 Orem Tigers crushed the Mountain View Bruins on Friday night, 68-0. Orem scored 33 of its points during the second quarter alone. Tigers quarterback Chase Tuatagaloa threw two touchdown passes in the game. With the result, Mountain View fell to 0-2 on the season and Orem improved to a record of 2-0.

Uintah 28 @ Union (3A) 21

The Uintah Utes beat the Union Cougars on Friday evening, 28-21. With the game tied late, Uintah’s Easton Taylor returned an interception 30 yards for a touchdown in the final of action to score the game-winning touchdown for the Utes. Union’s Boone Lathem scored three touchdowns in the loss. With the result, Union fell to 0-2 on the season and Uintah improved to a record of 1-1.

Cottonwood 34 @ Carbon (3A) 41

The Carbon Dinos beat the Cottonwood Colts on Friday evening, 41-34. Carbon’s Keaton Rich scored three touchdowns in the game. With the result, Cottonwood fell to 0-2 on the season and Carbon improved to a record of 1-1.

No. 20 Sky View (4A) 28 @ Bonneville 18

The No. 20 Sky View Bobcats came from behind to beat the Bonneville Lakers, 28-18. The Bobcats trailed 12-7 in the third quarter before scoring three touchdowns to take the lead. Sky View’s Reed Wilde ran for two touchdowns in the contest. With the result, Bonneville fell to 0-2 on the season and Sky View improved to a record of 2-0.

No. 16 Pine View (4A) 35 @ Highland 0

The No. 16 Pine View Panthers pounded the Highland Rams, 35-0. Pine View’s Keith Adams scored two touchdowns in the game. With the result, Highland fell to 0-1 on the season and Pine View improved to a record of 2-0.

Pleasant Grove (6A) 34 @ No. 24 Maple Mountain 33

The Pleasant Grove Vikings upset the No. 24 Maple Mountain Golden Eagles on Friday night, 34-33. Pleasant Grove’s Jaeden Wright score three touchdowns in the Vikings’ victory. With the result, Maple Mountain fell to 1-1 on the season and Pleasant Grove improved to a record of 1-1.

Timpanogos 51 @ Grand (2A) 6

The Timpanogos Timberwolves blew out the Grand Red Devils on Friday, 51-6. Timpanogos’ Matu Holdaway threw a pair of touchdown passes in the Timberwolves’ win. With the result, Grand fell to 0-2 on the season and Timpanogos improved to a record of 2-0.

Farmington (6A) 17 @ Bountiful 21

Bountiful started strong with a 14-point first quarter and had a 21-10 halftime lead. Farmington’s comeback came up short as they scored just one TD in the second half. Max Barker threw two touchdowns, finding Drew Bowles and Jaxon Demorest. Corbin Cottle added a touchdown run. Easton White had just one TD pass, hitting Mitch Nielsen. Boston Reinhold had a rushing TD.

No. 21 Provo 34 @ Box Elder 17

Provo scored at lest one touchdown in every quarter, while holding Box Elder to two touchdowns and a field goal. Feitagai Lesa and Jace Welsch each ran in two touchdowns, along with one from Rockwell Magleby.

Taylorsville (6A) 7 @ Jordan 56

It was all Jordan in this one as they scored 35 points in the first quarter and 14 in the second. Jamarcus Smith had four rushing to lead the Beetdiggers to their first win of the season.

Crimson Cliffs (4A) 25 @ No. 14 Spanish Fork 22

Crimson Cliffs had a 25-7 lead heading into the fourth quarter on two touchdown runs by Chase Hansen and a pick-six by Brayson Phillips. Spanish Fork made a big comeback attempt as Jace Gunter had a rushing TD with a two-point conversion before Austin Stevenson found Cade Olsen for a 67-yard touchdown but the Mustangs held on.

Salem Hills 7 @ Lehi 30

Lehi got things going in the second half as they dropped 21 of their 30 points. Jackson Brousseau threw two touchdown passes, while Kadiyon Sweat had one rushing and one receiving TD.

Viewmont 38 @ Hillcrest 0

Viewmont scored 10 points in the first before 14 in both the second and third quarters, while getting the shutout. Luke Jacobs threw a TD pass to Cole Mudrow. The QB also had a rushing touchdown. Elias Uesele recorded two touchdown runs and Miles McGrath had one.

Hunter (6A) 0 @ Olympus 33

Ryan Reynard scored both of his touchdowns in the first six minutes of the game. Mason Smith had a pick-six and Matt Herron recovered a fumble for a TD. Seth Roberts had two touchdown passes, finding Reynard once and Nash Taylor.

No. 2 Skyridge (6A) 49 @ Woods Cross 0

The Falcons had 35 points at halftime and coasted in the second half. McCae Hillstead threw three touchdown passes, connecting with Teagen Calton, Cannon Jensen and Zeke Greco.

Desert Hills (4A) 38 @ Cedar Valley 7

After the game was tied at seven through the first quarter, Desert Hills scored 31 unanswered points and picked up the win on the road. Noah Fuailetolo threw four touchdown passes, connecting with Lincoln Holmes, Eric Olsen and Awsten Turbow twice.

Layton (6A) 41 @ Northridge 19

It was all Layton in the first half with a 21-0 lead at halftime. The Lancers stayed basically even with Northridge in the second half to pick up the win. Garrett Gifford threw two touchdowns, one to Nicolas Sanders and one to Brigham Lawson. Cameron Garcia, Elias West and Zach Barber each had one rushing TD in the win.

No. 9 Kearns (6A) 0 vs. No. 13 Timpview 54

The No. 9 Kearns Cougars and No. 13 Timpview Thunderbirds played in the Corner Canyon Tournament on Saturday, August 21. Timpview upset and blew out Kearns, 54-0. Timpview’s Teancum Atuaia scored three touchdowns and Zed Ambrosio added another pair of scores on the ground. With the result, Kearns fell to 1-1 on the season and Timpview improved to 1-1.
