SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Quin Snyder is adding a new assistant coach to the Utah Jazz staff. Erdem Can, an assistant for Fenerbahce is leaving the club to assume a full-time role in the NBA.
Can has worked with the Jazz during the past six summer leagues, including this year in both Salt Lake City and Las Vegas before joining the team’s regular season staff.
Before being hired as an assistant coach with powerhouse Fenerbahce, Can was the head coach of Eskishehir Basket in Turkey.

Beyond summer league, Can has ties to the Jazz stretching back to Fenerbahce where he served under Snyder’s former lead assistant coach Igor Kokoskov. Kokoskov left the Jazz in 2018 to serve as the head coach of the Phoenix Suns for one season.
The former Jazz assistant then worked for the Sacramento Kings and Fenerbahce before returning to the NBA under Jason Kidd on the Dallas Mavericks coaching staff.
Snyder has traditionally carried at least one coach on his staff with significant international experience including Kokoskov, Fotios Katsikaris, and most recently Sergi Oliva. The Jazz head coach had his own stint coaching abroad when he served as an assistant coach under legendary European coach Ettore Messina with CSKA Moscow.
Last season Snyder added longtime NBA veterans Keyon Dooling and Dell Demps to his staff.
The Jazz will begin training camp on September 28 with the preseason beginning on October 4. The NBA’s regular season opens on October 19.
