SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah State football team kicked off its first fall camp under new head coach Blake Anderson in preparation for the 2021 season.
The Aggies held their first practice of fall camp in Logan on Friday, August 6.
Anderson, who was hired as USU’s head coach in January, was happy with the state of his team after Day 1 of fall camp.
“The energy was good and the veterans looked like they knew what we were doing and that is really the test of Day 1,” Anderson said. “Conditioning-wise, being able to hold up to the tempo of practice and the amount of reps we got and the fact that we had a sprint off at the end, and we were still running well, those are all signs that we had a good summer.”
Utah State had more than 100 players participate in the opening day of camp, including 39 newcomers and 15 transfers.

After practice, Anderson discussed the play of his quarterbacks. Last season, USU played multiple quarterbacks and will have a battle for the starting job before the first game of the regular season.
“I didn’t see a bunch of balls bouncing on the ground,” Anderson said. “We threw a couple more to the white jerseys than we need to, so we need to protect the ball a little better, but all-in-all it wasn’t a bad day.”
