When it comes to recruiting, BYU football head coach Kalani Sitake has always wanted “ballers on and off the field.” That means being a standout on the gridiron, but also in the classroom and their local communities.
One of the top recruits BYU is pursuing in the upcoming 2022 recruiting class is showing his “baller” status by helping kids in his community of Tucson, Arizona.
Treyson Bourguet gives back with “Back-To-School Challenge.”
QB prospect Treyson Bourguet from Salpointe Catholic created a “Back To School Challenge” via his personal social media platforms to help kids in the Tucson community obtain school supplies and clothes.

Bourguet created the challenge earlier this month and gave an uplifting reason why he wanted to do this for his community.
“With my senior year coming right around the corner, I’d like to give back to the community of Tucson and be more than just a football player. My goal in doing this is to help families attain proper school clothing and supplies to kick off the school year.”
The three-star quarterback prospect had his social media followers nominate boys and girls who would be able to benefit from this back-to-school challenge.
After receiving nominations, Bourguet took three kids back-to-school shopping this past weekend to gear them up with clothes and supplies for the upcoming school year.
“Had an AMAZING time giving back to 3 deserving kids today! God works in mysterious ways and he was definitely with us today [emoji][emoji] There’s no better way to spend Sunday than to spread Gods [sic] word #backtoschoolchallenge,” tweeted Bourguet on August 15.

Bourguet also challenged some of his 7-on-7 teammates from his Tucson Turf squad to get in on the challenge and help other kids in need. One of Bourguet’s top receiver targets, Jakobi Lane, picked three kids as well.
Got the chance to hang out with 3 amazing young men today. We are truly blessed to live the lives we do everyday. #AGTG thank you @treysonbourguet for giving back !!!!! pic.twitter.com/M8WQQ6tLG6

It’s always great to see athletes using their platforms for good.
Where BYU Football stands in Bourguet’s recruitment
Bourguet took a trip to BYU football camp this past summer and immediately drew attention from offensive coordinator Aaron Roderick. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound quarterback prospect, and younger brother to Arizona State QB and 7-on-7 legend Trenton Bourguet, landed a scholarship offer from BYU’s staff after his workout in front of coaches at camp.

Bourget and his Salpointe Catholic squad begin their 2021 season on Friday, September 3rd, against Canyon del Oro.
BYU is currently one of three programs that have an offer out to Bourguet. The others are FCS schools Columbia and Idaho. But the former Arizona commit has other suitors that are in the mix.
In June, after visiting Provo, Bourguet told Cougar Sports Insider (247Sports) the top schools he’s considering. “There are about four schools that have made me a priority and the same goes from me to them; Northwestern, Colorado, SMU, and BYU.”

Bourguet hasn’t publicly announced a date for when he plans to commit to one of the programs pursuing him.
Whichever school ends up landing Bourguet is getting more than just a football player.
