The Jazz will have both a white and blue roster competing at the three-day event, but Butler, who they selected with the 40th overall pick in Thursday’s draft, was not listed.
Butler was acquired in a draft-night trade with the Memphis Grizzlies who sent the Jazz three-second round picks, including the 40th pick which was used to select Butler, in exchange for the final pick of the first round.

While the Jazz and Grizzlies trade has been agreed upon in principle, it can’t be completed until August 6 when the NBA’s 2021-22 league year officially begins. That will hold Butler out through the entire Salt Lake City Summer League schedule.
Though Butler won’t be playing, the team’s white roster features a number of familiar names to Jazz. Last year’s rookie class including Udoka Azubuike, Elijah Hughes, and Trent Forrest will all be on the roster. As will third-year players Jarrell Brantley and Juwan Morgan.
Miye Oni is not listed on the roster after playing with the Nigerian National Team at the Tokyo Olympics. Macio Teague, who played with Butler at Baylor and signed with the Jazz as an undrafted free agent on draft night will play for the blue roster.
The Memphis Grizzlies and San Antonio Spurs will also be competing during the Salt Lake Summer League.
