Taylor Sander, USA Volleyball Drop Match To Brazil After Winning Opening Set

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former BYU standout Taylor Sander and USA Volleyball lost to Brazil after winning the opening set of the match.

Team USA played Brazil on Thursday, July 29.

After winning the first set, the United States lost three consecutive sets and fell to Brazil, 3-1.

Sander looked impressive spiking the ball early in the match and helped the USA win the opening set, 32-30.

After that, it was all Brazil.

Set 1

USA won 32-20

Set 3

Brazil won 25-21

Set 4

Brazil won 25-20

The loss was Team USA’s second of the Olympics. The United States suffered a loss to the ROC earlier in the Games.

Sander had 18 points for Team USA. The former BYU hitter was 16/31 for a 38.71 efficient hitting percentage. Sander was 0/4 on blocks in the match.

The USA’s next match is against Argentina on Sunday, August 1.
