SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former BYU quarterback and current New York Jets rookie Zach Wilson still hasn’t signed his contract, meaning he hasn’t reported to training camp.
Jets head coach Robert Saleh talked about his new quarterback’s absence today after telling reporters yesterday to “ask him tomorrow” if he is worried.
So, it’s “tomorrow”. Robert Saleh said that’s when we could ask him if Zach Wilson needs to be in camp now. So is it time to …
“To panic?” he said. “You’re never going to see me panic. Zach’s going to sign. When it happens is when it’s going to happen.” pic.twitter.com/G6dnFabSJw

“To panic, you’re never going to see me panic. Zach’s going to sign. When it happens is when it’s going to happen,” Saleh told Ralph Vacchiano of SNY.
When asked if he is concerned Saleh replied with, “It’s more concern for the kid. It’s too many (missed practices) already — for him … This young man has a chance to do something special here that hasn’t been done in a long time.”

Yesterday it was reported that the Jets aren’t likely to budge on the contract negotiations.
Vacchiano described that the fight focuses on “offset language” but as ProFootballTalk earlier reported the signing bonus has also been an impediment. The Jets want to defer millions into 2022. League and team precedent point to all of the bonus being paid within 15-30 days.
Nothing has been reported on the likelihood of Wilson budging on the deal negotiations.
