SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Former BYU star Jordan Matyas and the U.S. women’s rugby sevens got the win in the team’s opening match in the Olympic tournament in Tokyo.
The Americans started slow, giving up a try to start the game, and going down 7-0 to the Chinese after a successful conversion.
However, the U.S. answered with 28 unanswered points, taking a 28-7 lead until the final seconds.
