Dixie State Coach, Players Excited For Tough Schedule, In-State Rivals
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – This morning at WAC Media Day, Dixie State head coach Paul Peterson, quarterback Kody Wilstead and linebacker Malaki Malaki discussed the upcoming season and getting through the hardship of last season.
The Trailblazers’ 2021 schedule is tough. But rather than feeling intimidated coach Peterson is excited and views it as a chance to grow for his team.
“It’s going to help our program grow faster than it would have,” Peterson said of the schedule.
With the revamped WAC football conference, the three were also excited to play some football in Texas.
But, the general message from the coach and his players was that they are just ready for a normal season after the COVID-19 pandemic ended everything last year.
Wilstead and Malaki agreed that the hardest part of last season was not knowing when or if they would even have games. But they were both grateful that the spring season gave them time to practice and prepare for what is hopefully a normal season this year.
All three Trailblazers agreed they are most looking forward to their opener against Weber State because of the in-state rivalry factor.
