Patriots Place LB Kyle Van Noy On PUP List Before Start Of Training Camp

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The New England Patriots placed former BYU linebacker Kyle Van Noy on the team’s non-active/Physically Unable To Perform (PUP) list prior to the start of training camp.

New England put Van Noy on the PUP list on Tuesday, July 27. New England’s players reported the organization’s facilities for pre-camp tests and meetings on Tuesday.

The Patriots are scheduled to open training camp on Wednesday, July 28.

Van Noy was placed on the list as he was not yet “cleared for practice,” according to ESPN’s Mike Reiss.

Van Noy is eligible to be moved off the PUP list and onto the Patriots’ active roster at any time.

About Kyle Van Noy

After a standout career at BYU, Van Noy was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft.

Following two and a half seasons with Detroit, the linebacker was traded to New England.

Last season, Van Noy played with the Miami Dolphins. He returned to New England this offseason.

In Van Noy’s 3.5 seasons with the Patriots, he recorded 221 total tackles, 154 solo tackles, 16.5 sacks, 21 tackles for loss, five forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, nine pass breakups, two interceptions, and two touchdowns in 51 games.

During his seven seasons, Van Noy has recorded 358 total tackles, 246 solo tackles, 23.5 sacks, seven forced fumbles, six fumble recoveries, two interceptions, and 16 pass breakups in 95 games.

Van Noy and the Patriots begin the preseason against the Washington Football Team on August 12.

New England’s regular season opener is on September 12.
