AP – The Vegas Golden Knights have traded reigning Vezina Trophy-winning goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury to the Chicago Blackhawks.
The return of a minor leaguer Mikael Hakkarainen indicates it was a salary dump.
Fleury counts $7 million against the salary cap next season.
This organization, this city and this fanbase will forever be grateful to Marc-Andre Fleury for the impact he’s made on and off the ice in just four years. We wish Marc-Andre and his family the best in this new chapter of their lives. #VegasBorn 🌸 pic.twitter.com/tiXn3d3wm0

Agent Allan Walsh says Fleury will be taking time to talk to his family and seriously evaluate his hockey future.
"I know for a lot of people this is a day that is filled with sadness. I share those same emotions that you do and yet I do feel responsible to do everything I can to put the best team on the ice possible. That’s what I’m doing as well as our whole hockey operations group."

Among other goalie moves around the NHL, Vancouver’s Braden Holtby and San Jose’s Martin Jones will become free agents after going on buyout waivers.
