SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Tony Finau has made the cut following an impressive second-round at the 3M Open. His four-under-par second-round has him positioned seven shots behind the leader Adam Hadwin who enters the weekend at 10-under-par.
Finau, 31, responded from a disappointing one-over-par opening round. His Friday began on the 1st tee when he endured a bogey-free opening nine-hole. He made the turn at three-under-par following three birdies through the opening nine holes.
The back nine began with another birdie on 10, followed by another birdie on 12. His first bogey fell on 14 but responded with a birdie on 15. His final bogey dropped on 17 when he let a 6-foot par putt slide by.
Then, on the 18th hole, Finau found the water after driving the ball wayward right. He found himself hitting his third from 290 yards and put it in the brought just short of the green. A beautiful up and down saved his par and he ran to the clubhouse feeling incredibly fortunate.
A wild par at 18! Lol✅

Currently, Finau finds himself in a tie for 44th and plenty of work remaining if Finau hopes to beat his 3rd place finish at the tournament in 2019. His only other start came in 2018 when he ended in a T23.
Unlike yesterday, Finau managed to navigate his golf ball around the water hazards, helping his scorecard drastically. He was also able to knock down a number of big par-saving putts to keep the momentum in his favor.
Tee times and pairings will be announced later in the day ahead of the weekend.
Canadian Adam Hadwin leads the tournament while six players find themselves in a T2 at nine-under-par.
