Zach Wilson’s Coach, Jets Passing Game Specialist Greg Knapp Injured In Bike Accident

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Gregg Knapp, passing game specialist for the New York Jets and one of Zach Wilson’s coaches, suffered life-threatening injuries in bike accident.
According to ESPN, Knapp was hit while riding his bicycle near his home in Danville, California on Saturday, July 17.
“Knapp, 58, was struck by a single motorist at approximately 2:49 p.m., according to the San Ramon Police Department. Based on the preliminary investigation, drugs and/or alcohol were not a factor, police said. The driver of the vehicle, whose name is being withheld, is cooperating with police,” ESPN reported.
The Jets organization confirmed the accident on Monday, July 20.
“Life is a precious thing,” the former BYU quarterback posted on his Instagram story after the accident was reported.

Shortly after reports of the accident surfaced, Knapp’s family released the following statement:
“Greg is an amazing father and husband whose passion for life can be felt in all his interactions with people. He is our rock and biggest supporter, pushing us to all strive to better ourselves each day with constant lvoe and inspiration. While many know him for his achievements as a coach, his impact as a father and husband are far greater. We are so fortunate to have him in our lives. We are sincerely thankful to all those who have continued to reach out and provide support — it has meant the world to us. We as that you continue to pray for Greg and our family during this time.”

First-year Jets head coach Robert Saleh also asked that Knapp be kept in prayers as he recovers from “this horrific accident.”
“Greg is scuh an amazing individual it is hard to imagine the challenge facing him and his family,” Saleh said. “Greg’s fun nature, kind disposition, and wealthy of knowledge has allowed him to make genuine connections with all of our coaches, players and staff since he has been here. I ask that you keep him in your prayers as we all pull for him to recover from this horrific accident.”

About Greg Knapp
Knapp is entering his first season as a member of the Jets organization and his 26th in the NFL.
During the last 22 seasons, he has served as a offensive coordinator or quarterbacks coach.
Throughout his time in the league, Knapp has coached Pro Bowl players, including former quarterbacks Jeff Garcia, Peyton Manning, Michael Vick, and Steve Young.
Knapp and his wife, Charlotte, have three daughters, Jordan, Natalie, and Camille.
