SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Fox Sports Radio host Colin Cowherd said that he doesn’t believe in former BYU quarterback Zach Wilson and thinks the New York Jets will be “mostly a mess” during the 2021 NFL season.
Cowherd discussed Wilson and the Jets during a recent episode of his show, “The Herd with Colin Cowherd.”
During his program on July 14, the sports radio host revealed his predictions for AFC teams this season, including Wilson’s Jets.
“The Jets, I think it’ll be mostly a mess. I do not believe in Zach Wilson,” Cowherd said. “I think he is the one quarterback out of the draft I have questions about. I see a lot of Johnny Manziel. I see a little bit of arrogance. I see a smaller athlete, who can make plays off schedule. But this roster, though they’ve improved significantly on the offensive line, because of the last two drafts — Joe Douglas, GM, has done a very good job— I don’t see the kind of playmakers you need.”

In addition to those remarks, Cowherd predicted that Wilson and New York will finish in fourth and last place in the AFC East division with a 5-12 record.
While a 5-12 record would still result in a last place finish for the Jets, according to Cowherd, some New York fans might view that as an improvement on last season.
In 2020, the Jets finished with a 2-14 record and earned themselves the No. 2 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, which resulted in Wilson.

Wilson and the Jets open the 2021 regular season, A.K.A. “The quest to prove Cowherd wrong,” when they play against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, September 12 at 11 a.m. (MDT) on CBS.
