Utah Avalanche Soccer Club Claims First Ever ECNL Championship

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – The Utah Avalanche youth soccer team won their first ever ECNL National Championship with a win on Friday morning.
The Utah Avalanche are a BU-13 team that beat San Diego Soccer Club 3-0 in the Championship match in North Carolina. Alejandro Vasquez, Jace Thomsen and John Lian scored the goals for the Avalanche, while goalkeeper Will Mackay earned the shutout.
The Avalanche started the tournament with a 4-1 win over Pipeline SC on Sunday, July 4. They followed that up with a 1-0 victory over Florida Kraze in the Round of 8 on July 5.
In the semifinal, they were able to knock off MVLA 2-1 to reach the championship match. Some other accomplishments the Avalanche have achieved recently includes 2021 LV Mayor’s Cup International Champions, 2021 Utah State Cup Champions, 2020-21 ECNL Mountain Conference Champions and 2021 Far West Champions.
Youth Soccer Rankings has the Avalanche ranked No. 1 in the state, No. 5 in the region and No. 13 in the nation. During the 2020-21 season, Utah has compiled a record of 68-1-1.
