SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Utah Jazz part-owner Dwyane Wade paid his respects at the Champlain Towers South collapse site where at least 78 residents have were killed on June 24.
Wade spent the majority of his career playing for the Miami Heat fewer than 15 miles from the beachside condominiums.
The Jazz owner shared a photo of himself on Instagram at the site of the collapse along with a caption thanking the first responders who have been tasked with searching for survivors in the rubble.

“Today was about Uplifting, Praising and Showing up!” Wade wrote. “Our first responders are the real MVPs.”
Despite their round-the-clock digging, the focus of the excavation at the site has shifted from a rescue plan to a recovery effort, hoping to find and identify the remaining victims killed in the collapse.
No survivors have been found in the wreckage since the immediate hours following the tragedy.
According to ESPN, Wade stopped at the memorial in front of the collapse site and wrote “Sending prayer, love, strength and healing.”
Wade also spoke to the South Florida Urban Search and Rescue team during his visit to Florida. Fellow Miami Heat stars Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro, and Udonis Haslem have also provided assistance per ESPN.
The 13-time All-Star spent 15 seasons in Miami where he won three NBA titles including the Finals MVP in 2006. The guard purchased a minority share of the Jazz in April.
