PROVO, Utah – Being at a faith-based university, BYU football incorporates religion into its program frequently.
The newest addition shows more evidence of that to the entrance into the strength & conditioning weight room at BYU’s Student-Athlete Building.
BYU football now has a quote from President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Russell M. Nelson in front of the weight room.
The quote reads, “The Lord loves effort because effort brings rewards that can’t come without it.” BYU’s new Director of Player Experience and Equipment Operations, Billy Nixon, shared a picture of the new messaging when players enter their laboratory.

President Nelson shared that message during an April 2020 session of the Church’s semi-annual General Conference. Brigham Young University is owned and operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
BYU Football Weight Room Motivational Quotes
President Nelson’s quote is one of many different quotes dotting the weight room. Others include “Championship Mindset” and “Train to Win.” Along with a quote from legendary head coach LaVell Edwards, “The will to prepare is more important than the will to win.”

The weight room is a big component of the performance of any college football team. BYU is no exception. Players and strength staff spend endless hours in the weight room in preparation for a given season.
The strength & conditioning staff oversees the work BYU players put in during the off-season. They act as the eyes for the coaching staff, who is limited in the number of hours they can spend with the players during the off-season.
BYU’s strength staff has had the players utilizing the weight room and running stairs at LaVell Edwards Stadium and the historic Smith Fieldhouse.
BYU reports for fall camp on August 4th, with practices beginning on August 5th.
