Funny Memes Created During First Day Of New NIL Rules
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – College athletes can now profit off of their name, likeness, and image (NIL) after the NCAA removed restrictions for things such as sponsorship deals, online endorsements and personal appearances.
On July 1, student-athletes were able to start earning money based on their NIL without endangering their eligibility or putting their school in jeopardy of violating amateurism rules.
“This is an important day for college athletes since they all are now able to take advantage of name, image and likeness opportunities,” NCAA president Mark Emmert said.
After midnight on the morning of July 1, social media had fun with the new change to college athletics and some funny memes were created about NIL.
