Report: Fan Involved In Crash At Tour De France Arrested

PARIS (AP) — A report says gendarmes in Brittany have arrested a fan involved in a massive pileup at the Tour de France during the opening stage at cycling’s biggest event.
The fan brandished a large cardboard sign while leaning into the path of oncoming riders on Saturday.
She appeared to be looking in the other direction.
The woman has not been publicly identified.
France Bleu Finistere radio station said she was arrested by gendarmes in the Finistere region.
The station cited a source close to the probe.

Stage 1 Crash
Stage 1 of the race took place on Saturday, June 26 in Brest, France. It’s the 108th edition of the Tour de France.
During the beginning day of the race, a fan stood alongside the route and held a sign.
The sign struck Tony Martin, who was riding past. Martin tumbled to the ground, which caused a huge pile up of bikes and fellow riders.

France’s Alaphilippe won the opening stage of the race.
The race will take place over a variety or routes throughout France until the final stage on Sunday, July 18.
