Former Utah State DB Patrick Allen Dies At Age 59

LOGAN, Utah – Former Utah State defensive back Patrick Allen passed away at the age of 59 last week at his home in Seattle, Washington, the Aggies announced.
While at Utah State from 1980-83, Patrick “Doc” Allen was a four-year letterwinner. He earned first team all-Big West Conference as a senior in 1983. Allen also earned second team honors as a junior in 1982.
During his senior year, Allen earned Big West Defensive Player of the Week honors when Utah State beat San Jose State 22-15, finishing with four tackles and six pass breakups.
Throughout his career, Allen had eight interceptions, with five of them coming during his junior season.
Allen was taken in the fourth round, 100th overall pick in the 1984 NFL Draft by the Houston Oilers. He spent seven years in the NFL, all with Houston as the Oilers reached the playoffs four times in that span.
Allen was elected a member of the Utah State All-Century Team in 1993.
