BYU Football Unveils Impressive New Locker Room For Players
PROVO, Utah – BYU football won’t be lacking in the locker room department anymore.
Just one year after players expressed frustrations with the lack of renovations to their locker room, BYU heard those frustrations and stepped up in a big way for their student-athletes.
BYU unveiled a new locker room that is located at the Student-Athlete Building on the campus.
Accompanied to Jason Derulo’s “Lifestyle,” BYU football’s social media accounts gave a tour of the new digs for the players. A wall of Nike shoes and cleats began the tour, instantly signaling the “lifestyle” for BYU football players is leveling up.
The funding for the locker room renovation was pulled from the SAB maintenance endowment fund established before the facility’s construction, with interest earned on the endowment devoted to the facility’s ongoing maintenance and future improvements.
This is the first renovation to the Student-Athlete Building locker room since the facility was built in 2004. The previous locker room had a lot of tan, looked dated, and didn’t have the wow factor that you’re looking for in a locker room these days.
In big-time college football, locker room renovations are a huge component to attracting future recruits to a program.
No announcements have been made to the locker room enhancements have been announced by BYU in regards to the LaVell Edwards Stadium. The Student-Athlete Building locker room had to take priority as players are in that venue every day, compared to LES, where they have six home games and a handful of scrimmages.
Construction began on the renovation in April and concluded last week.

The individual lockers, created by Longhorn Lockers, are highlighted with the player’s name and a picture of the athlete. Each locker has a padded chair, cup holder on the side, electric outlets, racks for their helmets, and shoulder pads, along with areas for clothing, shoes, etc.
The locker room also has a barbershop for players to get a fresh cut.
Player experience has taken on a significant role within the BYU football program this off-season. From new uniform combinations, a Name, Image, and Likeness program, and now locker room, BYU appears to be doing everything they can to elevate the experience for their athletes.
BYU is coming off an 11-1 season last year where they finished No. 11 in the final AP Top 25 poll. The Cougars open up fall camp for the 2021 season on Thursday, August 5th.
